A Belfast team, not just a Belfast landing page
If you want to meet the people running your account, check the published address and the Companies House record, and ask which office the team sits in. Several firms with Belfast pages work from elsewhere, and some Belfast agencies also run Glasgow, London or Dublin offices.
- 02
Judged on margin and payback, not ROAS alone
Platform ROAS can look healthy while first-order margin or repeat purchase is weak. Ask which number the agency reports against, and look for contribution margin, blended CAC, payback and LTV reported next to ROAS.
- 03
Shopping, social and marketplace depth
DTC brands usually depend on Google Shopping and Performance Max, Meta and TikTok. Ask for recent campaigns on the channels you rely on, and check award claims on the organiser's own winners page, noting the year and whether it was a win or a shortlist.
- 04
Store and lifecycle, or media
Belfast's options split between agencies that build and fix Shopify stores and agencies that buy media. Decide whether your constraint is the store, the traffic or the repeat purchase, and pick the partner whose evidence matches that job.
- 05
Consent-compliant email and SMS
UK rules require specific consent for marketing emails and texts to individuals, with a narrow soft opt-in for your own customers. Ask how the agency grows your list without bought-in data and who owns the Klaviyo or lifecycle flows.
- 06
Ready for Great Britain, Ireland and beyond
Many Northern Ireland brands sell into Great Britain, the Republic of Ireland and further afield from day one. Ask for examples of the agency running multi-market campaigns with local creative, currencies and shipping messages, rather than a single UK account.
- 07
Measurement you can audit
Ask how ecommerce, ad-platform, analytics and email data are joined, which attribution windows are used, and whether the agency runs holdouts or incrementality tests rather than accepting each platform's own reporting.
